Data High Availability

Our HA replication solution combines near real-time off-site replication with backend virtualisation ensuring that under normal conditions an up-to-the-second copy of data is always available at the Data Vault for instant failover.

Backend Virtualisation allows us to provide a more cost-effective solution combined with the portability of Virtual Machines, so that, given the appropriate network infrastructure your DR environment can either be accessed remotely over suitable links, or alternatively delivered to a location of your choice, in either virtual or physical environments.

The solution uses unique compression and bandwidth throttling features combined with byte-level replication, allowing full control over the bandwidth used for backup.

HA Replication is configured such that we are protecting each server in its entirety including operating system, system state, application and data. In addition servers can be further backed-up via eVS to provide a complete solution and ensure daily backups are still maintained.

On installation, we attend site with anexternal NAS device onto which the initial replication is taken. Monitoring of all replication sets is then carried out over a period of time (typically 2 – 4 weeks) to ensure that sufficient bandwidth is in place to maintain off-site replication of the data.  The device is then transported to our Data Vault and uploaded onto our virtualized backend.  Replication is then restarted and monitored for the duration of the contract, to ensure off-site copies are up to date. The remote copy is maintained as a dormant image, ready for use should you require it. Periodic off-line testing of these images is included as part of the solution.

Project-based Implementation Plan - developed in conjunction with the client to deliver a complete solution, including provision of all required Hardware & Software plus software and hardware maintenance for the duration of the contract.
